TE RERENGA
by Arama Hamiora Davis

Poetically speaking, the visual style can be translated as “Tuning to the Flow of the Waters of Life”, an expression perhaps to describe the act of unconditional alignment of oneself to the river of their hopes, dreams, aspirations and letting go of all manner of things that no longer serve the best interests of your heart.

Ardy’ is a contemporary Māori artist specialising in the field of carving, though also known to occasionally work with paint on canvas and explore a little digital design. Currently based in Waipapa near to the sacred islands of his ancestors, his artwork shares a common spirit intended to inspire, uplift and empower himself and others.

He feels alive when surrounded by the life forces of nature. This sparks his mind into contemplative thought, boosting his creativity and helping him to consider the possibilities of what could potentially become. His art has elements and themes drawn from the interactions he has around him, through the observations of the physical, and spiritual world, worldwide culture and the people he loves. Arama is passionate about what he creates, always seeking to express deeper levels of his thoughts and beliefs. He is always challenging himself to raise the standards of his work, and pay tribute to his cultural roots and ties with his ancestors All of this helps bring confidence, conviction, balance and flow to his exquisite artistry.
