Created in collaboration with New Zealand artist Mikaere Henderson (Ngāti Pikiao), Takarangi brings together rich turquoise and ocean blues in a contemporary design inspired by an important traditional Māori motif.

Mikaere’s contemporary interpretation of Takarangi draws on the traditional interlocking spiral motif, where notches between the coils can represent whakapapa. The balance of positive and negative space reflects the relationship between light and dark, life and death, Ranginui and Papatūānuku, and the physical and spiritual worlds.
