About the Artist

KOWHAIWHAI by Kahurangi Rihari-Poa.

"Kahu’s Kowhaiwhai design just “flowed from “ him onto an A4 piece of paper, like many of his tatoo designs. The next trick was to work his unique creation… into a repeat surface pattern print that could be used as a full, all-over print on garments. Jacqueline Roper, (another one of Kaleo’s contributing artists with training in Maori art) helped with this. The result is a seamless and graceful illustration that works brilliantly across Kaleo apparel and accessories."

Kahurangi Rihari-Poa is a graduate from Northtec, Whangarei. He majored in screen-printing and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in applied arts. ‘ Kahu’ is currently living in Morewa and working as a tattooist. With years of tutoring and experience behind his belt, he is now journeying into the realm of whakairo with the guidance of Taane Matiu. Kahu also shares his talents and skills working at Hihiaua Cultural Center in Whangarei.

Shipping:

We process orders within 24–48 hours of receipt and dispatch on the next postal business day. All parcels are sent with tracking, and tracking details will be provided by email once your order has been shipped.

Please ensure your delivery address is entered correctly. If no one is available at the delivery address, the courier may leave the parcel in a safe place at their discretion. Delivery timeframes are estimates only and are not guaranteed once your parcel has been dispatched with the courier. Kaleo Designs is not liable for delays, loss, damage, or parcels delivered to an incorrectly supplied address.

Returns & Exchanges:

If you are not completely happy with your purchase, items may be returned in new, unworn condition with original tags attached within 30 days of purchase for an exchange or refund to the original payment method.

Exchanges are permitted one time only per order/item. For customers within New Zealand, the exchange will be re-sent at no additional shipping cost. Any further exchange requests will be at the cost of the customer. Please check availability of exchanged product prior to returning product to us, or call us.

Refunds will be issued less any original shipping costs incurred by Kaleo Designs in sending your order, plus a $15 processing fee.

My travel companion

These come with me on every overseas trip to the islands. So light and breezy, easy packing and if the nights are abit cooler they will keep in some warmth, but also breathable on those hot days. Love them!

Absolutely stunning print and fabric! The design of these pants hid the puku and felt amazing! Brought to wear to Senior Tropical Dance for our girl and she kept saying she felt beautiful! The Print and pants will be cherished and worn to both formal and informal occasions in the future. Highly recommend.

Silver Fern polo

Wanted a polo with a bit of difference and Kaleo’s (pink) Silver Fern delivers this is spades - and super comfy!

Super comfy and lightweight

I quite often wear these while travelling to Raro or Fiji as they are just super comfy, don’t wrinkle and are very light. They look great on and the design is very Kiwiana. Have had many compliments on them.

I purchased two this is the second. Both are fantastic aover these last few days with high humidity the fabric felt cool and airy

I got the XL, I'm 74 kg 167 cm in height I initially thought maybe I could have got the L.
Then I tried it on the fabric and draw string pulled it onto shape. The fabric is so beautiful light free and it hangs well. No crunching up the rear just elegant and soft. You will not be disappointed.
