About the Artist

WHITINGA O TE RA by Anita ‘NEAT’ Rademacher.

"This design was brought to life by one of my morning rituals of opening the doors to see the sunrise and bask in its light."

Neat is a born and raised local of The Bay of Islands. For her, art and design has always been a focal point of her life and she is now enjoying expressing this creative side of herself by paying homage to her home through cultural, flora, & fauna designs.

“I had this one-of-a-kind art teacher in high school who let me draw first then think later; we’d discuss things from refining techniques to the mundane of what we were eating for lunch, but found creative inspiration in any subject and discussion. I attribute much of my artistic progression to her.”

Most days Neat is found out in the Bay working as a deckhand, finding inspiration by being on and in the water, as well as listening to the calls of birdsong over the islands. She also volunteers for the Bay of Island Coast Guard responding to call outs.

This design was brought to life by one of my morning rituals of opening the doors to see the sunrise and bask in its light. Representing this with a stylised Tukutuku motif, the outer pattern work depicts people of past & future running parallel to each other; connected but yet to ever meet. The inner pattern work represents the people of now, the flax for the land, as well as teeth of sharks for the seas. All of these bonded together through the sun.

Returns & Exchanges:

If you are not completely happy with your purchase, items may be returned in new, unworn condition with original tags attached within 30 days of purchase for an exchange or refund to the original payment method.

Exchanges are permitted one time only per order/item. For customers within New Zealand, the exchange will be re-sent at no additional shipping cost. Any further exchange requests will be at the cost of the customer. Please check availability of exchanged product prior to returning product to us, or call us.

Refunds will be issued less any original shipping costs incurred by Kaleo Designs in sending your order, plus a $15 processing fee.

My travel companion

These come with me on every overseas trip to the islands. So light and breezy, easy packing and if the nights are abit cooler they will keep in some warmth, but also breathable on those hot days. Love them!

Absolutely stunning print and fabric! The design of these pants hid the puku and felt amazing! Brought to wear to Senior Tropical Dance for our girl and she kept saying she felt beautiful! I purchased two this is the second. Both are fantastic aover these last few days with high humidity the fabric felt cool and airy

I got the XL, I'm 74 kg 167 cm in height I initially thought maybe I could have got the L.
Then I tried it on the fabric and draw string pulled it onto shape. The fabric is so beautiful light free and it hangs well. No crunching up the rear just elegant and soft. You will not be disappointed.
