About the Artist

POHUTUKAWA by Lisa Baudry

"I was designing this print around the time that the pohutukawa in my neighbourhood were in bloom. This flower has become synonymous with Christmas in New Zealand, so the challenge was to create something that would be wearable all year round.

Christine introduced me to some exciting Hawaiian designs featuring the Ohia lehua which is a flower similar to our New Zealand pohutukawa. I was inspired seeing how other designers have used this flower in fresh ways."

I was fortunate enough to discover my love of drawing and painting at art class in high school and felt drawn to pursue an artistic career. I moved from the family farm where I was raised to Auckland to study graphic design at Auckland Institute of Technology. My first creative jobs were in home decor, painting ceramics for several Auckland tableware companies. I loved seeing how a decorative design could sell a product. In 2014, after about a decade in the graphic design field, I got re-acquainted with the field of surface pattern design and since then have had some wonderful opportunities to develop my work in this direction. I love going for walks in nature and my patterns often get inspired by what I discover there. I observe and photograph plants that catch my eye, and if possible collect specimens to draw back in my studio.

Please ensure your delivery address is entered correctly. If no one is available at the delivery address, the courier may leave the parcel in a safe place at their discretion. Delivery timeframes are estimates only and are not guaranteed once your parcel has been dispatched with the courier. Kaleo Designs is not liable for delays, loss, damage, or parcels delivered to an incorrectly supplied address.

Returns & Exchanges:

If you are not completely happy with your purchase, items may be returned in new, unworn condition with original tags attached within 30 days of purchase for an exchange or refund to the original payment method.

Exchanges are permitted one time only per order/item. For customers within New Zealand, the exchange will be re-sent at no additional shipping cost. Any further exchange requests will be at the cost of the customer. Please check availability of exchanged product prior to returning product to us, or call us.

Refunds will be issued less any original shipping costs incurred by Kaleo Designs in sending your order, plus a $15 processing fee.
