About the Artist

NIKAU PALM Print by Mikaere Henderson.

As the only palm native to Aotearoa the nīkau had multifarious uses in te ao māori, from weaving and thatching through to kai and rongoā (medicine).

Mikaere (Mike) Henderson is he uri o te iwi Ngāti Pikiao and graduated from Massey university with a Bachelor of Design.

Originally from Rotorua, Mike has worked extensively in the fashion industry in both Australia and Europe.

Now residing in Kerikeri, Mike produces artworks inspired by Te taiao (the natural world), a love of which was transferred to him by his grandmother at a young age.

‘Mehemea ka koeretia te rau o te nīkau, ka rara te waha’ , is a whakataukī ( proverb) that speaks to the vulnerability of nature .

As the only palm native to Aotearoa the nīkau had multifarious uses in te ao māori, from weaving and thatching through to kai and rongoā (medicine).

The Nīkau print aims to be a contemporary take on the traditional Hawaiian palm tree designs with a distinctly indigenous twist.

The hand drawn nīkau silhouette provides a design with a strikingly graphic contrast. Suitable for both men and women with the vertical nature of the print providing a flattering design for an array of different body types.

Shipping:

We process orders within 24–48 hours of receipt and dispatch on the next postal business day. All parcels are sent with tracking, and tracking details will be provided by email once your order has been shipped.

Please ensure your delivery address is entered correctly. If no one is available at the delivery address, the courier may leave the parcel in a safe place at their discretion. Delivery timeframes are estimates only and are not guaranteed once your parcel has been dispatched with the courier. Kaleo Designs is not liable for delays, loss, damage, or parcels delivered to an incorrectly supplied address.

Returns & Exchanges:

If you are not completely happy with your purchase, items may be returned in new, unworn condition with original tags attached within 30 days of purchase for an exchange or refund to the original payment method.

Exchanges are permitted one time only per order/item. For customers within New Zealand, the exchange will be re-sent at no additional shipping cost. Any further exchange requests will be at the cost of the customer. Please check availability of exchanged product prior to returning product to us, or call us.

Refunds will be issued less any original shipping costs incurred by Kaleo Designs in sending your order, plus a $15 processing fee.
