PAKATI
by Jacqueline Roper

This was originally designed for our long sleeve shirts, fitting the brief that this product line should offer uniquely NZ patterns and a tasteful, more dressy or professional look…  Kiwi style. In this design, “ Jax” has featured elements of a pattern from whakairo, or traditional Maori wood carving, found in her marae in Taranaki. “Pakati” refers to the type of notch, or fine dog tooth pattern, running between parallel lines.

Jacqueline was born in Stratford, Taranaki New Zealand, and has been designing clothing since a very young age. As a talented designer Jacqueline has spent many years crafting her skills in Fashion & Textile design, with very successful career working in Tokyo, Paris, Los Angeles….and eventually finding her way back home to Hamilton, New Zealand.    Jacqueline has just recently launched her own line of luxury womens-wear, Jaqueline Ann Couture, and opened a beautiful boutique in Parnell, Auckland.
